I heard about PRAMUN for the first time from my English teacher at my school, Gymnazium Arabska. At that time I had already been to a couple of projects like this and since I liked them all I seized the opportunity at once.

Now I am especially glad I did because PRAMUN turned out to be the most exciting of all. I spent those few days of our summit working in amazing atmosphere, which was even better due to the presence of many foreign students who had come to Prague to discuss the global issues with us. They were a real challenge for us as most of them had been studying those topics for years and some of them even were native speakers. Despite of this I think we did really great and proved we could hold our own. Apart from working with them, it was also very nice to see they all thought Prague is a beautiful city (and I agree:))

As I mentioned above, the main program of PRAMUN was the discussion about global issues and taking our stands on them. A different country had been assigned to every one of us and our task for the summit was to defend the political views of that country, even if they should be different from our own. The committees were Environment, Disarmament, Human rights, WHO, Security council and Social, Cultural and Humanitarian.

There are several reasons why I think people should join PRAMUN, but here are the main ones:

1) Experience you learn from a conference like this is unique and hard to get from anywhere else, especially in nowadays schools. I think it is extremely important for everyone to learn how to speak in public, how to defend your position on topics and above all, how to make friends with people from different nations. In my case PRAMUN has fulfilled this all and also helped me with my English.

2) In comparison with other projects I think PRAMUN was very well organized and prepared. The atmosphere was amazing and talking about real issues, using the official debate-language and having to be dressed up made it as close to a real world as possible. The organizers were well-skilled and a lot could be learned just by watching them.

3) You cannot lose in PRAMUN, just gain! There is no need to be afraid or to underestimate your skills. No one will judge you and it is just up to everyone how much energy they want to put into the project. Someone might find that it doesn’t suit them, but I believe that most of us there wished if only it could have been longer.

So to sum it up, I enjoyed PRAMUN very much and I recommend it whole heartily to everyone. Chances are that if you try it, you will like it. And I think the earlier you find, the better for you.

PRAMUN was for me a very enjoyable experience...
Not only that the people were great, but the discussions in the committees were great fun and very educational...
When my friend first told me about PRAMUN, I was skeptical.... But then I met Mr. Schmoll, a wonderful and optimistic man, who would teach us the rules and the guidelines of PRAMUN...
I also liked the idea of preparing for our committees and spent quite some time dedicated to the study of my country's international policy...  I was in the Disarmament committee, along with one of my friends.
The chairs of the committee were very warm and helpful, during the time when we were debating, they were constantly aiding us in our struggle to pass a resolution, or come to some sort of an agreement.
The best part of debating was, under my opinion, "crisis mode"
That is when the delegates are allowed to use informal speech, and all countries work as one to respond to a certain scenario, or problem. IN our case, Iran was supposedly  arming itself with nuclear warheads, and activating them... It was good fun...
All in all, I enjoyed this year's PRAMUN, and next year I'd love to participate.

This year, I found the strength to enlist in PRAMUN as a delegate. I had already taken part in it last year but just as an organiser, so from this regard it was actually new for me. To be honest, I felt really nervous about my participation in PRAMUN as a speaker of some country. I was worried because of my English and my speaking skills but finally there was no reason for my fear because everything without problems. Everyone was really kind and friendly so there was no place for shyness or nervosity. Even though it was serious, at the same time it was really good and the atmosphere was full of good humour. So to sum up, I have to say that I am very happy that I could be a part of this amazing experience and I must recommend it to everyone. Not only is it a great chance to improve your English skills but it is also a great opportunity to get to know new people from all around the world.

I participated at the MUN for the first time in my life. I didn't know anything about it and first few meetings in school I didn't feel  very sure if I wanted to continue with this project. But in the time when I received the name of my country, which I should  represent, I absolutely  fell for it! The whole conference was for me absolutely incredible experience! Even if there weren't people of my age (and I didn't enjoy the disco with them), it was  an enormous  experience to be with them, to listen to them  and to say my own opinion. It was an opportunity to meet new people, to improve my English, to debate about current problems and  to spread my views. I can't even express how grateful I am, that I could participate at the MUN and I thank to all people, who spent their time preparing this, because it pushed  me somewhere further.

With all wishes Barbora

P.S.  Ask my friends how long I wore my identificiaon card with the name of my country.

What I really enjoyed about PRAMUN were the preparatory seminars. You don’t have to have a superb English to join this program, and it is not necessary to know a lot about politics. But if you have the will to know something more about current world problems and you want to get some new friends this project is for you. The country which I represented was Lebanon and well, it helped me to understand a bit more the Middle East situation
I have joined the official part of the conference, work in committees and the General Assembly. Well, I have to say, that sometimes it was difficult for me to understand the spoken English, however it wasn’t an obstruction to join the discussion and to get on well with people from our committee.
I’m looking forward to joining this project next year and to meeting everybody again :)

I will never forget PRAMUN 2010! We met many interesting, friendly and
smart people from almost all over the world. We were debating about
serious problems trying to find a solution. And we also got to know
how the UN actually works. I especially enjoyed the Youth Forum at the beginning of the programme. Those 3 days were busy and very inspiring.
Thank the organizers for their time and enthusiasm!

Nakonec přijde domů a už i nad ledničkou přemýšlí v angličtině co by si dal.

There are not many schools in the Czech Republic that participate in Model Uns, which is, I think, a shame. Model UN offers a great opportunity for students and young people to share and develop their ideas, discuss various views on the contemporary world and most of all, represents one of the best possibilities for people who come from many different countries to meet and understand each other. Model UN is not a real UN conference and it doesn't attempt to be one. It is just something else. And I dare say that it might be even more interesting and fruitful than the real conference. Sure, your resolutions can neither change the world nor affect politicians' decisions but everyone knows that it is himself/herself, the hope of tomorrow, who learns how to deal and change things to be better. Another difference is that all the guys who gather at the conference come to reach an agreement. Politicians and diplomats have their assignement to procrastinate as long as possible, students come to think of ideas how to become better. On the other hand, I cannot say that sessions were easy. I met many tough negotiators who were much younger than I was as well as many other great people, genuine personalities. Model UN gives you so much that it means to me more than a conference. It is friends, fascinating variety of cultures, new ideas and an invaluable experience Most of all, it is fun, for me, at least...
